The AWAAIRE Bear Project
in memory of trainee school teacher Vikki Foss

Before she died Vikki Foss bought a large teddy bear which she planned to take into her classroom to encourage children to "Go and give the bear a hug" whenever they wanted a cuddle. This bear has now inspired the AWAAIRE Bear Project in memory of Vikki who died of asthma. Similar bears will now be used to not only provide comfort and hugs to young school children but to also highlight the vital importance of asthma awareness in schools.

"I remember Vikki as a diminutive 11-year-old and she was an absolute delight. She had an incredible vibrancy and optimism.”
Max Coates, former head teacher
at Bourne Community College, Southbourne.

Help us pay tribute to Vikki’s love of children together with raising awareness of the dangers of asthma with the

AWAAIRE Bear Project www.awaairebear.com

Each bear costs £50 and 100% of the profit from all AWAAIRE BEARS will go solely towards AAIR and their support of a world-renowned medical team dedicated to finding new treatments and one day a cure for asthma.

AAIR Partron Fred Dinenage “Vikki was clearly a very caring person who would have been an inspirational teacher. I'm certain Vikki would have been delighted to know the bear she bought for her new class is now being adopted as the AWAAIRE BEAR could help others with asthma I would urge all infant schools to give this project their full support so we can have an AWAAIRE BEAR in every class.”

“This department is at the forefront of research into asthma and has been instrumental in many breakthroughs, including the discovery of the first asthma gene. This research has substantially contributed to the understanding of asthma and has directed, both nationally and internationally, the guidelines for the management of asthma. As we are involved from basic research right through to the treatment of asthma patients the work AAIR supports is truly bench to bedside. We are delighted The AWAAIRE BEAR Project will support this vital work.”
