What Do We Research?
Our primary research interests are Asthma, Hayfever, and Allergic Rhinitis, smoking related diseases (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)), (e.g. Emphysema/Bronchitis). We are studying both the basic mechanisms which cause the disease and potential new treatments.
Who Are We Looking For?
Our work in Research is growing and we continuously require Volunteers to undertake various Studies. We require Asthma, Perennial Rhinitis, Hayfever and COPD Sufferers. In addition we require Healthy non-allergic individuals as volunteers as we often conduct studies where comparisons are made.
Taking part in a Research study is easy. You can contact the Database and Recruitment Manager on 023 8079 4343 or e-mail
elw@soton.co.uk for an application form. A Research Nurse will then contact you to provide you with further details of the study to ascertain if you match the study's criteria, you would then be invited to the department for a screening.
In most cases your expenses will be reimbursed.
