To mark the launch of AAIR’s new-look website we are launching an on-line fund-raising campaign to help purchase a crucial new piece of equipment.
The Acoustic Rhinomanometer costs £5,000 and is vital to a one year trial we hope to complete in partnership with a Japanese pharmaceutical company Shionogi, to study a potential new treatment for hay fever and allergic rhinitis. There is the very real and exciting potential for the new compound that Shionogi have produced to relieve some of the terribly debilitating effects of rhinitis and hay fever that so many people suffer from.
The machine measures nasal cavity airway resistance, enabling scientists at the University of Southampton School of Medicine to monitor the effects of treatments for Allergic Disease.
