AAIR – Questionnaire results
After some reports of confusion over the charity’s name we asked for your opinions - and you didn’t let us down.
So far 68% who expressed an opinion said they found the acronym confusing and the full name too long and difficult to remember and would rather the charity’s name was updated.
30%, who expressed an opinion, felt the name did a good job of explaining the role of the charity although many of this group also felt the word Inflammation was difficult to remember and could be confusing.
Just 17% said they used the full name Asthma, Allergy & Inflammation Research most said they usually shortened this to refer to the charity as ‘The Asthma Charity’ or ‘The Allergy Charity’. 64% said the acronym AAIR usually required an explanation although 10% said this was a good thing.
The short questionnaire can be completed below. We will keep you updated of any decisions.
STRAW POLL
We are considering a change to our name ‘AAIR’ as we have encountered a lot of misunderstanding from people hearing the charity name for the first time. Common problems include confusion with the acronym as it implies the charity has something to do with either ‘the air’ or that we are linked to the charity,
Air Ambulance. Another common comment is that the wording Asthma, Allergy & Inflammation Research is rather a mouthful and cumbersome. This means several people, including our supporters, and the media often get the name wrong when mentioning the charity.
This has resulted in some confusion which obviously has a negative impact on the effectiveness of any publicity we gain and in attracting those wanting to support AAIR’s research etc.
We would like to reassure you we are not planning a costly rebranding exercise but are just considering a simplifying of the name.
With this in mind we would greatly appreciate your comments and suggestions and so have outlined a few questions below. This should take no more than 10 minutes to complete, as a mark of our appreciation all those who reply will be entered into a draw for two free tickets to an AAIR event of their choice.
